Challenging but not impossible. The Beloved reacts badly to onion. If your reaction is to raw, uncooked, onion a ubiquitous ingredient of salads the Spanish phrase you will need to use is "sin Cebolla" 'without onion'. If your difficulty is with cooked onion or even onion traces on chopping boards / knives / fingers then you are going to need more Spanish than I can offer and may need to self-cater with caution.

As @Tincatinker has said the Spanish put onions into many things so I would suggest that you assume onions are included and ask for a meal to be prepares 'sin cebollas'. Carrying a card with the phrase and a simple explanation if you do not have much Spanish would be a great help. We have cetain allergies and found that the waiters and cooks were very sympathetic and understanding, especially as ours are to additives which is more difficult to check.
