Hi, Canterbury to Dover is over 30kms. Is there any budget accommodation along the way? I cannot find anything, not even a campsite to pitch my poncho. There is a B&B in Shepherdswell, but £40 is over my budget for one night . . . especially as I will still have another 100 nights to go!

Have you tried knocking at the door of the local vicarage/rectory/manse? Buen Camino, SY

There is a train station in Sheperdswell and you could get a return to Canterbury or Dover for cheaper accommodation.

Alternatively walk via Coldred, Lydden and along the old A2 into Dover. It avoids a large detour on the official route and make it possible to get to Dover in 1 day.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I live in Canterbury and I'd recommend getting the train back from Shepherdswell and staying in a cheap hostel here then get the train back to Sheperdswell the next day as that splits the walk nicely down the middle.

Ok, with a bit of help from Ms Google, here the the CoE parish/benefice website http://www.bewsborough.org.uk
You could always drop them a note and ask for hospitality, the worst thing they can say is 'no'.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

There is a camp site at Womenswold:

It only has a toilet and cold tap, no other facilities and none in the village either.

The nearest facilities are: Aylesham - shops, railway and bus links, medical centre, dentist, sports facilities, post office. Barham - shop, post office, buses. Bridge - shops, post office, buses, medical centre, dentist. Shepherdswell - Railway and bus links, shop, post office. Snowdown - Railway station

Hi, thanks for all the replies, some good ideas there!

I had looked at that campsite earlier, but it appears to belong to the Camping And Caravanning Club, of which one must be a member to stay there. I have noted it though, so if the weather is good on the day, I can always give them a call to ask if I can pitch my poncho for one night

The comment about lack of facilities was from a CPR member who stayed there in 2012 so it may be possible to camp.

I have walked and cycled the route and if you are not tired or worn and start early (perhaps after Matins in the Martyrdom Chapel at 7.30 at the cathedral) if you take the shorter route I mentioned Dover is not too far in one day.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Has anyone got information on the hospice (not the auberge) a Great Saint Bernard Pass? I've read their website, and I'd appreciate insights as to how comfortable it is, quality of the food, etc...
Due to length restraints, I’ve had to to split the story into two posts. I find it no longer ‘flows’. I suggest reading Part 1 again, link below, before reading Part 2. Regards Gerard Part 1 link...
