LOL!!! I remember doing a double-take when I caught my first glimpse of the docked boat as I was approaching it last October. At first I thought it was a mobile home of some kind, and then as I got closer, I could see it clearly in the water of the canal. I've got a couple of snapshots of it

You can also walk along the Canal de Castille. Several Caminos crosses it.

One similar "follow the river" route is Senda del Duero/GR14: http://www.lasendadelduero.com/

I enjoyed a couple of days walking up the canal on the Besaya Camino getting myself to the Olvidado Camino at Aguilar del Campoo. The views of the snow-capped mountains gradually getting closer was one of the high lights. Also the crayfish obsessed town of Herrera de Pisuerga.
