Greetings Peregrinos currently on the Camino and those that just recently completed your pilgrimage. I was wondering if anyone could give me an indication of the weather this year in Galicia to facilitate the packing for my short walk this year. (I will be starting in Lugo on 1st October.) In particular, is it especially dry or wet this year as well as is it especially hot or cold this year? This will help me decide if I need to pack my 'proper' poncho vs one or two of the thin polythene-type as well as whether I will need my thick sleeping bag or just a silk cover. Thank you very much.

Climate is what you expect, weather is what you get. No amount of end of August/beginning of September weather stories can predict the weather in the following month. Please don't shoot the messenger and Buen Camino, SY

Next October? I am sure it will be hot and dry.
Or cold and rainy. Or both.
Metheorologist usually risk a ten days prediction, no more.
But, trying to be helpful, I walked in Galicia last year, in early October.
In October 4th, there was a orange alert, with very strong winds and rains. I was in O Cebreiro (that's a mountain pass, before Galicia) and it was impossible to walk.
October 5 was rainy, but manageable.
The following days, we had generally good, mild weather, with occasional ligth rains after noon. After sunset (that is, after 6 PM) it could be colder as the month goes on; ditto for early morning.
Generally speaking, it is a good month for walking in Galicia, and the Camino will not be so crowded.

This weather report is probably as valid as it was fifty years ago.

Basically anything that can happen, may happen, unless it has happened already, then in this case it won't happen, unless it is one of those events that happens more than once. Beyond that the day will be light and the night dark.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

And sometimes even compassionate when trying to tell someone that they have asked for a clear and definitive answer on a matter where no such response can be made. Some questions about which people might be naturally curious, such as what the weather will be like when they plan to walk, are clearly not amenable to any reasonable answer. Are they fundamentally silly questions? They might appear that way in retrospect, but I think we have to acknowledge that they are probably not asked with any thought about how they might be answered.

However, it strikes me that being snappy when this is pointed out just makes one look churlish!
