The track I downloaded from the official site a while back shows the Via going through Montonero and continuing straight much of the way to Vercelli. I just noticed that the App (published, I think by the same folks) shows the Via turning left after Montonero and crossing SP11, eventually heading East and connecting with the prior route. Sandy Brown’s book, published in 2021 shows the old route with no left hand turn after Montonero. Anyone know anything about this? The old route looks shorter.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. We’re in Montonero and need to decide which way to go tomorrow.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Seems was problem with a private road, so in 2021 the path was changed. App path is right. I'm starting from Ivrea today and I don't use the app, I'm using gronze

Thanks so much!

I was planning to walk this in 2020 and downloaded the tracks. Then Covid hit. I didn’t check for changes. Lazy me.

I really appreciate your fast reply. It was just what I was looking for! Sounds like you saved my wife and I from being chased through the rice paddies by a local lady.

Buen camino,

Karl

Made it to Vercelli without any problems. The new route is about 2k longer than the previous one and has one small stretch along SP11 which was unpleasant, but otherwise it was fine. One bonus is that the new route goes right by a large, well stocked, Decathelon store so we able to pick up a couple of things we needed.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Jougne, the end of the last stage in France? Thanks. Karl
