Did you fall in love on the Camino?

Yes, most of us fell in love WITH the Camino... but did you have a special romantic connection with another human on yours? It would be great to hear your story, and how it turned out when the Camino came to an end, if you're willing to share.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I sense you are about to share a story about how 'your friend' did...........

No, neither I nor "my friend" did... but it's so easy to imagine it happening, given the intensity of the emotions. My post is sincere. I'd really like to hear some stories from fellow pilgrims. I guess I'm mostly curious to know how they dealt with re-entry into their other lives when the bubble changed forms.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I'm most sure many of us did. And I'm even more sure that when re-entry strucked us that "bubble" just blew over the time. Sadly...

I can remember at least two similar threads on the topic in past couple of years but one story, true story, I do remember and that is of our member @angelikilouk. She (from Greece) and her partner even named their son Santiago

Yes I did fall in love, not with another pilgrim on the Portuguese Camino, but with a lovely Portuguese architect who I met at my hotel in Barcelos. I went back to be with her, but only after finishing a Feb-March Camino (From Lisbon). we had a whirlwind affair visiting Ponte de Lima, we went to the Miro exhibit together in Porto and then we went down to the Algarve. I had a friend, a translator (I studied Portugese before I went) and a driver and never would have seen parts of her country had I not met her.
I am not going to say what happened, because it will ruin the end of the book I wrote about walking the uncrowded Portuguese Camino! Terence Callery

I fell in love in 2018, outside of Santiana Del mar. It was my second Camino, her first. A German lady who had caught up with my slow pace, smiled at me. I invited her to lunch, she said she had a booked room. I knew where I was going, it was accidently the same hotel, rooms next door. Lunch, wine and we stayed together for two weeks, walking, revealing secrets, laughing, making secrets, passion, walking and then goodbye. Maybe three emails since.

Um, yes. In 2007 on the CF. We said that it would end with that camino, but have walked many caminos together since, by foot and (metaphorically) in life. He is Dutch and I am Canadian, but thanks to the internet and affordable air fares, we were able to hold on and not let go. We are together more often than not.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Yes, I fell totally in love with a fellow pilgrim from Germany (I'm Scottish), and a year later wrote a post about it. You can see all the responses here.

We really hoped to start a new life together in Spain, but after 18 months, I gained full custody of my 10 year old daughter. which meant I had to stay in Scotland for her to attend school. We kept the relationship going for several years with lots of trips between Germany and Scotland and holidays abroad together, but in the end it was difficult for a long term relationship based in two different countries. We separated amicably and are still in contact.

My son's best friend walked the CF the spring after we did in 2015, inspired by our journey. There he met a french Canadian woman and they just got married in the fall. We were on the Camino del Norte. He now lIves with her in Montreal. ❤

This is so wonderful, i got a story that is quite similar, I met my french Canadian boyfriend last summer on the Camino Portugues and I'm from Austria.
There was some deep connection from the first day on, we walked together to Santiago and after than we thought we would probably not meet again, but I decided to buy a flight to Canada this spring, there we really fell in love and he was in Austria for a month in July.
In December I will go to Canada the second time

Fall in love? Hmmm....a couple of peregrinas I met, walked with and spent time with I still think about sometimes even if the relationship went no further. If not love, definitely strong feelings developed.
