Interesting topic on the CBC radio, in French, this morning: an exterminator explains how he uses dogs to detect bed bugs. Here is a short demo of the Poodle at work.

Apparently humans only see about 30% of bed bugs. The dogs? 90%!
He has 3 bed bug detecting dogs. He comes in a house or building with on. It does its job. To double check, he then brings in the second dog, bringing the chance of detecting the creepy crawlies to 92%.
Oh, and for those who like to repeat that they have never been bitten by a bedbug on the Camino, the exterminator also explains that not everyone will get a bump when bitten. So for the love of all good things, please do take this issue seriously when en route.

Can't help but think that having one of these dogs on the Caminos might make for a nice activity for retirement.
