I just wanted to take a moment and share my experiences and observations with this forum.
I found this forum a few years ago when I began to consider time on the Camino. At first I was amazed at the amount of information and advice in threads. It was overwhelming, much like the task of preparing for a Camino feels. But now I see a community of fantastic people, unlike any other on the Internet.
I am still surprised with my experiences and observations. People are continually friendly, helpful, gracious, and patient with one another even when the question has been asked before 100 times or if the answer seems obvious to everyone else. The times when folks are not kind to someone, another forum member is quick to encourage kindness and a gentle hand.
I find this behavior rare when it comes to the Internet and a collective of people in general. In some ways, it restores my faith in the way peopel live amongst one another. I mostly feel gratitude. When I take my first step on the Camino next year, I will do it feeling like I am part of a community I already understand and feel proud.
Thanks everyone!
Yes, we are a gentle and kind race... And those who prove themselves otherwise are quietly taken out and disposed-of!
Well, we're not really. There seems to be something though, that keeps us in check (somewhat) and humanity moving forward. Living in hope.
Stephan. Do you mean that those pilgrims you met before were not that friendly or do you mean you allready met friendly pilgrims but want to meet more of them ?!I look forward to meeting more friendly fellow pilgrims when I walk the quiet Ruta del Ebro in May
My thanks to Nomad Peah for the kind words, and to the team who run this super forum.
