2018 First Timer
Good Moring
We plan to walk from Tui to Santiago in April 2018, hopefully over 5 or 6 days. As it is our first time I am looking for a little bit of help/information please.
1. Is it easy to pick up the Pilgrim Passport in Tui.
2. Is it better to book accommodation ahead or just arrive and book then
3. As we are not travelling in an organised group, we will be sending luggage on each day. Is this possible via taxi from most villages along the route?
4. Any other information gratefully appreciated

Many thanks
Gary

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Welcome to the forum @gc2329 and may you have a Bom Camino. I've not walked the Portuguese but I rarely book ahead on any of the caminos. Most people do not travel in an organised group - at least the ones on this forum. Most of us also carry our own packs, but having them transported is becoming common. On the route from Tui I have seen recommendations for transport of luggage by Tuitrans

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Many thanks

You say "we" - how many of you are walking? If there are more than a couple then it may be worth booking in advance for accommodation. The Portugues is becoming more popular all the time and you may find times when there is no space left for a larger group.

HI Just 2 travelling. Thanks

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
You can get the "pilgrim's passport" (credencial) at the Tui cathedral. If not at the albergue where you intend to stay. You do not need to book ahead for accommodation in April, but check the holiday dates (Easter period). There exists a luggage forwarding service. You can eventually mail excess luggage to Santiago (check this Forum). Also check alternatives from the classic Portugués route to Santiago if you're not pressed for time. Enjoy your planning.
