Camino Frances 2017 or 2018
I am considering walking Frances and then flipflopping and waking the Norte from west to east. I am guessing the norm is for an East to West but has anyone walked West to East. Or is my best info to get a guide book and just follow it backwards.

Thanks
Terry

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi and welcome to the forum @Terry Stroud

The Caminos are only waymarked in one direction - towards Santiago, as this is the end point of this pilgrimage. Finding the way backwards, especially if you haven't walked that route before, can be very difficult.

Last year, I 'follwed' the journey of a Dutch pilgrim on twitter. I think he started in Lisbon, walked up to Santiago and then walked on via el Norte to France, crossed France from the southwest to the northeast and finally took the train for the last leg home. He was a rapid walker and as far as I remember he did not mention any trouble with the directions.
I don't remember specifically if he used GPS, but if you know how tu manage, that will make the trip even easier.

--- Meanwhile, I feel somewhat frustrated because I cannot find him among the list of ppl that I follow, and I am not sure about his screen name either. :( :( :( Everyone may of course delete their twitter account if they please, but if he did that it is such a pity because he took great pictures.

A French organisation that sends teouble youths, accompanied, makes them walk VDLP and then the Norte from Santiago to Irun.

If you are serious about this, "start a discussion" with me, and I will ask the "accompagnant" for feed back on how that went, and ask him if he minds beong put in contact with you directly. He gets by in English ok.

I have walked back on the Norte as far as Ribadeo, time constraint made me take the Feve to Santander.I did it without a map or guidebook and did lose the way a few times but nothing too drastic. There are, occasionally, blue arrows to indicate the way eastwards.I really enjoyed walking alone after the bustle of the Frances.

Elevation map shows this is really steep! What’s the best way from downtown Hondarribia up there? Then wish me luck on the Purgatorio—I am a nervous wreck.
My group of six arrives in Irun on May 20 and we're starting our Camino on May 21. Since it's the beginning of the busy season, I'm wondering if we should order trekking poles from Amazon Espana...
