Hi,
I plan to walk the Camino Portugues, from Porto to Santiago de Compostela, maybe in September or October 2010.

I would appreciate some feedback on weather conditions, budget accommodation en route, general walking conditions etc.

I'm 66 years old, in good physical health, accustomed to walking & I guess I can manage 15-20kms per day. Sound feasible?

Any & all input will be appeciated.

Thanks!
Huw

Hi Heather and Chris,

Good to hear about more who are walking from Lisbon. Though you may have already seen it, the Confraternity has put up an online copy of a guide of sorts that I wrote when I walked from Lisbon to Porto. You can download it here:

I'm always eager to get updates. And BTW, I have heard from a Portuguese peregrino that there is a newly formed Portuguese Friends of the Camino group. He has posted on this forum and has given me great hope that the eucalyptus forests will no longer be pilgrim black holes between Lisbon and Porto.

Happy to answer any questions you might have, especially about the stretch between Lisbon and Porto. Bom caminho, Laurie

Sorry for my English, I am french Canadian. Good camino to all!

hi!

i would say do not panic, i did the route from Porto to Santiago this May, and among the others, i met a spanish group: the average was 66 years, but they were more fit as i was at 28. they did 20 km-s a day, in 5-6 hours, and after a good sleep went on exploring the city... shopping for supper... so i think that sound ok 15-20km a day... if you want some pictures about them

Hello--I'll be leaving Porto for Santiago on the 10th or 11th of September. Walking solo but I would enjoy company from time to time. I've walked the Camino Frances and parts of the Camino in northern Europe. I'm 72 and reasonably fit. Pls let me know if you will be in Porto about the same time I will be. Cheers...Bill
