Hello fellow pilgrims! my name is Gisella, I'm italian. I walked the camino frances in june 2006 from SJPDP to Santiago (have I met any of you???). Last July I walked the camino aragones starting in Lourdes (via somport). This last camino has been a very solitary walk, but I enjoyed it very much!
Next year (maybe end of may) I am planning to walk the via de la plata....but I am very concerned about being on my own...I heard it's not recommendable for women being alone...ok ok, I'll post in the right section! thank you everybody!!!

it´s not uncommon or unsafe or weird for women to travel alone on the Via. You have to take the usual precautions, but nothing unusual. Go for it.

What's the difference between walking alone in France to walking alone in Spain?

Hello, Gisela.

There's no problem about walking alone as a woman in La Plata or in any other lonely Camino. Don´t worry about.

The problem is exactly the same than being in any other place outside the Camino. And I suppose you should know it after having walked the Camino Francés and the Aragones, lonely like the Plata.

Don't worry about and enjoy it.
