Hi, my name's Damian and I recently found this website...so still finding my way around it. I've never walked the Camino before but a friend of mine has walked bits, as school holidays allow.

I'm 42 and a civil servant and in reasonable shape/ fitness (could always improve though!) and I wondered how realistic it is of me to think that I could walk the route in one go, say, next May or June or any month. I can take a whole month off/ more if needed.

Any thoughts anyone can share would be much appreciated! Many thanks.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Tens of thousands do it in one go, so your odds are good!

Read theFAQs first, then surf around the Forum. You will find many questions and answers.

Buen camino.

Damian,
Welcome my fellow civil servant. This will be my first camino also. My suggestion is to read everything that comes in new. Almost every question i've had has been asked and answered in the last couple weeks. Those that have not I found by searching. You have plenty of time.
I too thought I was in reasonable fitness since I bicycle to work 3 days a week at 12 miles each way. I started backpacking, one way, every day and soon realized my conditioning wasn't what it needs to be for the Camino. My drive is to complete the journey from SJPDP to Santiago in one go - I'm guided at this time to do it this way.
I leave in less than 28 days. One suggestion I can make is to pack as little as possible to get you through the conditions you make experience during the time of year you're going. I started at a pack weight of 42 pounds and walked to work. I'm now at 21.5 pounds and love walking. There is something to say about lighter is happer.

Buen Camino
