I originally posted to this forum way back in 2007 and wow, how things have changed in my life! I never made it in 2008, as I had hoped. This time, it is going to happen and I will be doing the Camino Frances in April 2010, solo. There is a slight chance a friend of mine might join me, but at the moment, I am not counting on her. I will be using the Camino as a start to a six month RTW adventure visiting friends in England, Ireland, Sweden, Japan, Mexico and possibly Argentina. I will be visiting family in Italy, and also venturing into Africa (still undecided about what country), India and Thailand. My plan for the countries where I don't know people, will be to spend a week sight-seeing and a week volunteering at a local organization serving those who are less fortunate. I plan to travel until I run out of money. :) Looking forward to participating here on the forum as I work on preparing my mind, body and soul for this adventure.

I am a 35 year old healthcare worker (Emergency Room Tech/Medical Assistant), living in Portland, OR, the most wonderful city in the US!!! I like good beer, good wine, good coffee, and good food..... all of which can be found within a 20 mile radius of my home. :)

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Welcome back and good luck on the Camino. My wife and I spent a long weekend in Portland, OR a couple of years ago...very nice. Good luck!!

Que gran adventura!

I'm 38 yo female from Seatte, WA leaving this year in Oct and going solo as well. Its nice to see a local posting on here. I'm really enjoying my practice walks around the city in Seattle. Its great to know a city so well that you never really get lost.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Another northwesterner!

I plan on trekking to Santiago next April also, but on the Caminho Portugues, starting in Porto. Although it looks to be about 12 days of trekking at my slow pace, I'll probably spread it over three or more weeks, doing a lot of photography in the villages along the way (and moving rather slowly due to the weight of my photography gear).

Greetings from Bend, where Portland people come to see the sun! Good to see a NW contingent here.

We're thinking about a 2010 trip on a French route via mt bike. We have already done three bike perigrinations, Pamplona to Santiago, Le Puy to Santiago, and Prague to Le Puy.
