Hello, and a quick question ...portuguese or mozarabe in March (10 days)

Hi, I'm Ali from the UK. I've been 'lurking' on the forum since my first camino in 2011 so just wanting to say hello (finally) and ask a quick question ...

My husband and I have 10/11 days at the end of March to walk part of a new (to us) way. Due to available flights, we have narrowed it down to the Portuguese Route (starting in Lisbon) and the Camino Mozarabe starting in Malaga. Whichever we choose we would plan to carry on at a later date from where we finish, there is no aim to reach Santiago this trip.

As we make our decision I would like to ask anyone who has experience of either, or both routes, which they would choose and why.

As a bit of background we speak OK Spanish and would cope in Portuguese, and have previously walked the Via Francigena so are used to being on less travelled caminos. Weather is obviously a bit of a factor but on the VF temperatures ranged from 0 (at night, in a tent) to over 40 walking into Rome, so I think both routes would be OK at that time of year?

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Hi, Londonali, welcome to the forum.

Magwood is the best person to answer this. I have walked from Lisbon (and enjoyed it very much) but not from Malaga, Maggie has a blog with daily posts on both of these routes, in case you haven't seen it, check it out here. There are great pictures, very helpful information, and lots of her observations and experiences. https://magwood.me

Thank you, I have had a good read of Maggie's blog and it made it an even harder decision! However, suitable flights led us to the Mozarabe so we're all booked to go for 11 days in March.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
