Hi everyone,

I've been getting requests for information about the beautiful Ruta Dragonte on the Camino Francés, one of the three options from Villafranca del Bierzo (rejoining the main route at Las Herrerías). It is a very challenging one-day route that definitely isn't for everyone, but it is incredibly scenic, peaceful, and offers a glimpse of rural Spain not really seen elsewhere on the Francés.

Dear Stratophile,


I am planning to walk the Ruta Dragonte and I wish to obtain the Guide book you refer to via the Treopedia link but cannot find it. Could you please help me to obtain the PDF format.

This will be my second attemt to walk it as in the 2016 when I first walked the camino Frances I was lost just befor Moral de Valcarce and I wish to be more prepared.

Dear all,
I am currently walking to Villafranca de Bierzo. Tomorrow I am planning to attamp once more the Dragonte route.
I was there in 2016 and only did part as I was lost and decided to continue on the normsl route.
I am aware thst since then waymarking has improved but I need a GPX file of this route. I installed alltrails app but could not download this route.
Could anyone help me pls.
I am very eager to walk it this time.
