Planning our September walk from St. Jean to Santiago. We had a marvelous experience, last April/May, but found that after Sarria the way became more noisy and crowded. We are thinking of taking the Inverno from Ponferrada on to Santiago. I am sure some on the forum has done this and would be interested in feedback.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I second that recommendation. And you are lucky because the forum guide has just been updated, hot off the presses for 2019. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/resources/invierno-forum-guide.535/

It is really all you need, though there is a published English language guide that some have purchased from Ivar's store.

In August, I know last 100 will be very busy on CF, I am debating following Frances as far as Sarria and then taking train south to Monforte de Lemos and walking Invierno from there.

Any thought?P1020248.JPG

It would be easier to just turn left in Ponferrada. :). And that way you wouldn’t miss As Médulas and all the beauty alongside the Sil River. But starting in Monforte will give you some real beauty, too, like crossing the Miño.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
