Irish people: flights to Biarritz.

Time of past OR future Camino
Too many to mention...
Hi folks:
I am starting my Camino in May 2014 (no better time than the present to start planning) and I just have a question about the flight from Dublin to Biarritz.
I notice that Ryanair fly out three or four times a week but the times at present vary from 11am to 6pm.
I know the times will change in 2014 but I suspect they will vary like above.
I take it the earliest flight is the better flight?
Cheers!

Re: Irish people: flights to Biarritz.

Hey,
I'm flying Ryanair Dublin to Biarritz on 18 September...9.50 am flight arriving 12.55. I chose flying this day because it was an early flight. Some other days the flights were later.I would rather get to SJPDP early as possible in the day to rest for the next day. I have also booked return flight from Santaigo with Aerlingus. Think its a seasonal flight though..Looking forward to it more every day!

Hey Aidan
Thanks for the reply!
It makes sense to catch an early flight. I'm trying to work my holidays around the two public holidays here in May and June.
But I guess I'll have no idea of flight times until the new yr.
Nice one on booking a flight from Santiago, hope you make it there on time :)
The time to your Camino will fly and you'll be on the plane before you know it.

In Nov 2012, I booked Wed, 27Mar13 Flight FR1982 Depart DUB at 08:00 and arrive BIQ at 11:05 but in January 2013, we got the following notification of change:
GOING OUT
From Dublin(DUB) to Biarritz(BIQ) Wed, 27/03/2013 Flight 1982 Depart DUB at 1055 and arrive BIQ at 1400

So despite taking a taxi from Biarritz to Bayonne, we missed the 2.55 train to SJPdeP by three minutes!

In fact, it worked out brilliantly as we spent a lovely afternoon in Bayonne and our 3 further travelling companions (who were travelling by train from Paris), met us at Bayonne Station just in time for the 6 pm train.

It will work out!

Flying out 28th August on 09.50am flight from Dublin....hopefully plenty of time to figure out how to get to SJPP...if anybody else on same flight please feel free to give me a nod:)

If possible go on the earliest flight and you will arrive in Biarritz around 1500 hrs which will give you ample time to get to St Jean and therefore be in a position to start walking early the following morning. If you leave on a later flight you will lose a day. I did it last year and arrived in St. Jean in a shared taxi at 1730 hrs. You will thoroughly enjoy the experience. Tom

Wow..I've missed all your replies..Apologies.
The earlier flight, the better so.

Oh and Buen Camino to those leaving Ireland shortly :)

Hi David,

hope you have a great time in May! Just thought I would add that there is no need for a taxi to Bayonne (unless you might risk missing the train) ... there is a city bus from the airport directly to the train station and it only costs 2 euro (if I remember correctly). Just ask at the airport information they will have the bus number.

Buen Camino!

Andrea, I too took the bus to Bayonne, it drops you off at the train station or any places in between. I paid 1 Euro, cheapest deal on the Camino. Ingrid

Does anyone know the cheapest way from Biarritz to St Jean ?
Jordan :)

Hi Jordan,

I guess the cheapest way would be to walk ;)

but as mentioned above, city bus from airport to Bayonne train station €1 (Thanks Ingrid for the price update!) and then the train to St Jean (last time I checked for € 9.60) ... very reasonable I think.

Ah hi guys
Thanks for your help, especially Andrea
I am off on the 28th May, from St Jean to Logrono and maybe further depending on time. I have 8 days.
My flight from Dublin to Biarritz lands at 12.55 CET and the train to St Jean is 14.55 CET.
I can only assume that's plenty of time?
I should get to St Jean around 4pm.
Hopefully I'll get some food when I get there ha!

Thanks
David
