Just my luck!

Arrived Santiago again without any bed bug issues. However found them attacking me in the night in my hotel! It was one I have stayed in 5 times now without any reservations as although quite standard and nothing special I found it clean and reasonably comfortable. I guess another pilgrim had friends. I accepted that and as I checked out I calmly and politely mentioned to the receptionist that they had a problem in the room. The "I'm sorry" was not heartfelt though, and delivered with no show of surprise. So I have to wonder if anything was going to be done. Maybe I should consider still using my sleeping bag liner even when in hotels?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Sorry to hear that Al. It sounds like you picked up a gift from the Camino that is right up there with the other big gift, blisters. It might be an urban legend but I heard that many airplanes and movie theaters also have problems with bedbugs. Unlike the hotel you stayed in that didn't seem to care about the problem, it is my understand that planes and theaters are treated on a regular basis.

I travel with my liner and use it in hotels all the time, not only to feel more secure re bedbugs, but also re germs. I'm comfortable with my own germs and don't mind wrapping myself up in them--but other peoples, not so much.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
If you really want to "see" who or what may be staying in bed with you...get a simple black light pen and shine it on all covers and linens. I for one, never leave the comforter on the bed. A duvet is different...usually.
Buen "What is that...eewwww!" Camino,

Kanga. My first was in the muni at Olvieria two years ago. My problem is that I am a hot person (estoy not soy) so I tend to sleep on top of a bed not in it!

Hi Al - I know there are times when you hope to give a hotel the benefit of the doubt - but the response you received indicates that it should be named!! Cheers

Tu es suficientemente picante para yo, Al

Good gracious, did I just attempt a joke in Spanish (Spanglish)?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Al, can you tell us what you normally do to check for (and avoid) bedbugs, and if that routine failed you at this hotel? Thanks.
