Leaving pack in Albergue

Camino Frances-Beginning May 13th in SJPP
I was just wondering if it's safe to leave my pack in the albergues at the end of the day if I go exploring around the town I'm in or if I should bring it with me? I know I will be sharing with almost exclusively pilgrims and I believe people are ultimately good, but I just wanted to see what those of you who have walked the way had to say about this.

A selection of Camino Jewellery

It is usually safe to leave your pack in the albergues, just be sure to have a small bag/pouch to take your valuables (money, cards, phone, camera and documents) with you. Sadly, things have gone missing in the past.
Buen Camino

It is generally safe to leave your pack but always take with you what you can't afford to lose; that means money, national passport, credit cards, telephone and camera. Take these items into the shower also and sleep with them safely inside your sleeping bag.

Stay protected and buen camino!

I have done what John and mspath said since I started hostaling in the '70's, take all you valuables with you to the shower, while exploring and put them in your pillow or sleeping bag at night. I always left my pack on the bed while exploring and it was always ok.
Buen Camino.

Ditto all above. I actually carry all valuables on my person at all times and with me in the shower, they are never in my bag. I have never "lost" anything other than a pair of socks obviously mistakenly taken from a washing line.

I agree with everything you said, but please don't leave your backpack on the bed. Put it beside it. Buen Camino! SY
