Hi: this is my 2nd attempt at posting message. want to walk during Lent
(begin Feb. 25th 07); want to walk for 40 days so I arrive at St. James for Holy Week (April 1, latest April 5th) don't know if weather will permit. i'm in very beginning planning stages; reading Walk in a Relaxed Manner by Joyce Rupp and trying to find out of print: A Practical Guide for Pilgrims by Milan Lozano. read s.mclaine's book about her walk about 5 yrs. ago and decided then that i wanted to do it. met "my" 1st pilgrim beginning of 8/2006. Canadian walked 3 yrs. ago for his 80th! I must be back in US in Mid-May. if weather is no good in early spring that i probably can't walk till late Sept. 2007; does anyone have feedback about weather in early spring...? and, of course , what is #1 choice for shoes to wear? THANKS! pam

Hello Pam,

Have a look at: http://www.weatherreports.com/_/Spain
This will give you a very general idea of the weather that you will be facing. You can look up various cities, like: Santiago, Burgos, Leon, Pamplona, and Ponferrada and then click “More Averages >>” – in blue.

Your biggest challenge will be snow, which may be probable in the Pyrenees, the Iron Cross , and even O'Cebreiro.

I biked it from Leon in mid March a few years ago and had a bit of everything - rain, snow, sleet, gale winds, and brilliant sun!

Water proof boots and gaiters will help with all the rain / mud.

Good luck and buen camino!
