Hello

We arrived in Oviedo today but sadly my Teva sandals are broken and I can no longer wear then. I walk half of everyday in these and I would really love to buy a new pair.

I've tried searching online on my phone but I end up at an online shop? Could some kind person see if there is a stockist in town that I could visit tomorrow morning.

Thank you... I feel a tad lost without them

Hi @LesBrass , sorry to read. My online search did not find a particular shop in Oviedo but El Corte Ingles sells them although not sure about the one in Oviedo.
But it will be your best to go to Calle Uria tomorrow, opens at ten!

I would also take a look at some of the mountain/outdoor stores in Oviedo. There is quite an active outdoor community there and you are likely to find high quality materials. There is a Decathlon, on Calle Uria 3, but I wouldn’t start there.

Some of the web pictures of d-ruta show some sandals. I suppose you should be preparing yourself for the possibility that though you will probably be able to get some good quality walking sandals, finding Tevas (or Chacos, which would be a great substitute) may be hard.

Another option would be to buy some online and have them shipped ahead to an albergue or hotel. I have had credit cards sent and held by people for several days, so I imagine a box of sandals wouldn’t be that hard. You would have to have certainty about shipping dates, though.
 
Many thanks. @SabineP I would never have thought of trying El Corte Ingles that's cool. I also hadn't found any of the options you had posted @peregrina2000... The first one looks very promising but all are within reach so I will go searching tomorrow.

It was in a little shop in Estella on my first camino that they guy kitted me out with appropriate shoes... So hopefully all will be well. I do have a pair of Lone Peaks with me but I really like walking part of the day in sandals and my toes love it too.

In Viana, quite a few years ago, a podiatrist treating my blisters told me to buy walking sandals. Local (out door activity) shop sold me a solid pair of sandals made by Source. I'm still using them. They have very thick soles.

@FLEUR yes I think I'd be happy with any outdoor sandal. Obviously a little nervous about trying something new mid camino but I can't wear the old ones so I'll just be happy to find another pair fingers crossed for tomorrow
 
Hola so we walked all over this morning searching for Tevas... Or indeed any sandal. We had the same response... Sorry only in summer . After walking almost 6 kilometres we decided we'd exhausted our options and we needed to move on.

Instead I've ordered a pair online and forwarded it to our stop 2 days ahead. We paid for 24hour delivery so hopefully they will arrive. Wish me luck!!

Ps... There are two Courtes Inglés in Oviedo. The main store isn't the sports shop. You need to go 5 minutes away... At Salesas parking. On the - 1 floor there is an excellent sports shop. Really fabulous! They stock so many brands and everything you could possibly need... Except sandals. But if you need anything in Oviedo I would recommend that you look here.

@LesBrass it sounds like you have found a solution. I know that when we were walking the Norte, Ian become so desperate with his (expensive) Merrell Moabs that he hacked bits out of them to give his toes room to spread. It did not help. We came across a market somewhere and he bought the cheapest of cheap sandals - I pooh poohed them and was sure they were a mistake, but no loss when they cost very little. Ian happily wore them for the rest of the trip. You never know what will work!
 
I couldn't find TEVA's in Oviedo to save my life! Ended up buying some hiking sandals at Decathlon. Good Luck!

So the new Tevas arrived at the hostel 24 hours after they were ordered But... They are so different and much narrower than my existing Terra Fi that we had to return them... Which we managed with surprising ease.

I'm not going to try and find any new ones now... I'm just being ultra careful with my feet.

It was just not meant to be but very impressed with Depor Village.
