Looking to do first 7 day walk

I'm interested in my first Camino. Well, 7 days worth of it anyway. I'm currently looking around May (I'm flexible). Maybe sticking to a route between two Spanish towns. I'm fairly fit, so should be able to handle a good challenge.

I'm looking for help on a few questions:

• Where is easy to get to from London and back to London?
• Which routes can be done in 7 days, can be fairly quiet and work around early to mid May?

Hi and welcome here.
Take your time to browse through this forum. In the right upper corner there is a search box that also can be of assistance.

Question : is it important for you to end in Santiago?

If easy and straightforward travelling is important for you then I would advice flying to A Coruña and then a bus to Ferrol.
The Camino Ingles is very doable in seven days and it is a gorgeous Camino IMHO.

Brilliant. I'm looking into flights now. Would 6 full days of walking be long enough for that route?

If you say you are fairly fit then it certainly is doable.

In 6 days walking you could cross from Saint Jean Pied de Port and walk to Los Arcos. (7 days will get you to Logrono.) Travel to SPPdP by flight to Biarritz (Ryanair, daily from Stansted) and train from Bayonne. Return by local bus to Pamplona and then SJPdP, Bayonne and Biarritz. Lots of advice on this forum. Good luck!

The camino salvador is very beautifull and is doable in a week. It starts in leon and ends in oviedo

I like the simple mileage charts at godesalco.com to help plan a route. Others have already made some good suggestions. I am an advocate for the Camino Sanabre (six days) Look into flying into Santiago or Coruna (train to Santiago, then Ourense) and your off. A pleasant walk back to Santiago. Happy New Year.

You say this will be your first Camino. Does that mean that you want to do a second, third, fourth...? Many people like to do the Camino Frances in yearly stages. Doing a week at a time you could finish in 5-6 years.
Check out gronze.com for the different routes. It's in Spanish, but if you use the Chrome browser it will automatically translate to English.

You might want to consider the Camino Portugese and start in Tui. It's a beautiful place to begin right on the border of Spain and Portugal. In 5 or 6 days of walking you will be in Santiago. Bom Caminho

My first Camino I walked for 5 days and reached Puente la Reina. I flew in and out of Bilbao from Heathrow.
It was really easy to get the airport shuttle bus from Bilbao airport to the bus station and then onwards to Pamplona (2 hrs) where I got a bus to Saint Jean PdP. And then from Puente la Reina a bus back to Pamplona back to Bilbao.

When I returned I again flew to Bilbao and went back to Puente la Reina to recommence my Camino. Again I had 5 days to walk and reached Navarrete; from there I took a bus to Logrono and a train to Bilbao (though I think the bus was actually quicker for that route!)

Third Camino, I chose Bilbao again, walked Navarrete to Carrion de los Condes (I had 12 days this time, and from Carrion I returned to Burgos and took a bus to Bilbao.

After Carrion de los Condes, you are better to fly to Madrid and get a train, but up to Carrion I've found Bilbao very easy.
