Lourdes to SJPdP

Time of past OR future Camino
2018
Hello, I am meeting my Brother at Lourdes/Tarpes airport next Sunday morning (8th April 2018) and we're trying to find a way to get to SJPdP on the same day. Right in the middle of the train strikes. Nightmare. I've trawled the web and can't find a train or bus connection anywhere, and taxi is way out of budget. Has anyone found an alternative way to get between the two locations? Thanks so much.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

There is a train on April 8. to Bayonne at 19:06 for 24€. You might take it and spend the night in Bayonne before trying for an early bus/taxi/hitchhike to SJPdP on April 9. see www.Oui.sncf.

To overnight in Bayonne the simple Hotel Monte Carlo is good inexpensive choice located opposite the rr station. Nice cafe and resto also. Here is their web .

Good luck and Buen camino to both of you!

If anyone is having the same problem and wants to share a minivan or taxi, just shout. Thanks.

It takes about 7 days to walk and is a fabulous way to start your Camino if you had the extra days. But you will probably have to get a taxi from Tarbes/lourdes airport into Tarbes or Lourdes railway station. There are 3 trains direct to Bayonne that day leaving Tarbes 10:12, 12:10 and 14:13 and they all take just under 2 hours to Bayonne. There are then just two services from Bayonne railway station (I think they maybe replacement bus services rather than trains at the moment but I am not sure) at 14:52 and 21:10 and they both take about 1 hr 20 mins. When searching SNCF.com you have to use the name "saint-jean-pied-de-port" as "st-jean-pied-de-port" doesn't work for some reason.

Thank you Mark - I did think about it and being in the foothills of the Pyrenees it must be beautiful, but we only have about 10 days, so walking from Lourdes is out I'm afraid. It's really unclear right now which trains will be running, if at all. The only Lourdes-Bayonne train showing as bookable on the 8th is the evening one mspath indicated, and now buses are showing from Bayonne for the morning afterwards - many thanks for that. In the meantime, I've found a transfer service from Lourdes airport up to SJPdP which in the end suits our timeframe better, and is not too expensive. Thanks so much and Buen Camino!

Try carpooling with App BlaBlaCar. You can find a car from Lourdes to Bayonne

Thank you - I tried Blablacar, but from Lourdes to SJPdP. I didn't think to look for a ride between Lourdes and Bayonne. We've now booked a ride with Express Bourricot from the airport to SJPP, so we're on our way! If anyone wants to share our ride, we'll be very happy to have them along.
