Madrid to St. Jean?

I am arriving into Madrid May 29th and am looking for advice on the best way to get to St. Jean to start my pilgrimage. Should I book any trains or buses from the US? If so, how do I go about this from an experienced Pilgrim? Or is this something that will be easy for me to navigate once I arrive into Madrid?

Appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks so much!

My son and I arrive at the Madrid airport May 29 and plan on taking the bus at 10:45 to Pamplona. Perhaps you would be interested in helping to share a taxi to St. Jean?

This would be awesome! So I am looking at my itinerary and I fly out of Dallas on May 28th at 5:35pm and it says I arrive into Madrid on May 28th at 10:05 am. I am sure that is a mistake. It should be arriving on the 29th, but I will double check. If our dates coincide, I would love to share a taxi. Thank you!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I just double checked on the American Airlines website and I do arrive into Madrid on the 29th at 10:05 am. Sharing a taxi would be great if that is something you are still interested in. Thank you.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
If I were to approach SJPdP from Madrid I would take the train.

Madrid to Irun on Renfe (spains train system)

Transfer from Spains system to Frances system. Ive not done this and it may involve getting to Hendaye. There are 4 or 5 different train systems operating on different gauges so I'm finding it hard to figure out ... though it looks like all you have to do is cross the platform at Irun.

Irun to Bayonne on SNCF (frances train system)

Way cheaper than a taxi from Pamplona or Roncesvalles.
