Hi everyone! I am on camino and i have an infected little finger. Two days ago a lovely doctor in Carrion help me without any payment. I am not an EU citizen and i have a private insurance however last time in Burgos they tried to charge me with 76 euros. Is there any other way to get medical assistance in Leon? It is only one little finger with infected blister! Thank you.

Hi, Mislek,
Many of the small town medical facilities simply have no way to take payment. It's not that Spain wants to offer you free health care, but there is just not a cash register or credit card machine in these small places. In big cities it is different. In León, I think you should expect to be charged and to pay upfront to avoid hassles later on. I don't know what non-EU country you are from, but I haven't visited a medical facility in the US for years with a charge under $150. You will get good care in León, so my suggestion is to pay for it with a smile and file with your insurance later on. Buen camino, Laurie
