I can highly recommend Anu and Jeremy's most uplifting, relaxing and inspiring abaHamba weekends on the Moorfield Mountain Farm, which is between Newcastle and Memel. They go to great lengths to embody the spirit of the Camino and it is a moving experience for anyone who has walked the Camino or is soon to walk the Camino. They restrict the number of participants to 16, and just as you meet pilgrims from all over in the albergues, so you meet pilgrims from other cities and towns in South Africa and form an immediate bond with them. Each day there are different organised walks on the quiet farm roads and paths in this beautiful area, with spectacular views over the Ncandu Nature Reserve, gorge and riverine forest. The walks are well-marked out as you simply follow the yellow arrows! You will need to bring your sleeping-bag - a covered mattress and pillow are provided. Moorfield is self-catering but on our weekend everyone shared whatever they had. Moorfield is off Muller’s Pass, half way between Newcastle and Memel, on the border between North-Eastern Free State and KZN - S27.52.533 x E29.42.494 - . http://moorfield.webs.com/ - http://jer375.wix.com/abahamba or Jeremy Burnham <jeremy@pes.org.za>. Further abaHamba weekends are planned for November 21-24, January 23-26 and February 20-23.
