"Must see" places on the way

Hi everyone,
IŽm starting el camino frances the next week and IŽm not taking any guide with me so I would like to ask which places on the way are worth of longer visit (from historical, cultural or architectural view..). IŽm sure the whole journey is nice but what would you suggest as the "must see" places?
Thanks
Bara

which place

Hi there, remember if you are staying in the refugios, only one night is allowed. Having said that if you are staying at the monastery in Leon the first night is donation, the second night is 6E. this is an exception thou. it is hard to stop along the way. Pilgrims don't take time off. I loved Leon, and the best was Santiago for me. Of course there are many small places with amazing churches.
enjoy
