Newbie introducing myself

Hi. Im Ddee. Im thinking of walking at the end of the month( April 2018) for around 1 month from either Pamploma/Logrono depending on where I can get a good deal on a flight to from Manchester. Are there any others with a similar agenda? Im in my 50s but Im happy to meet people of any age. Im hoping to walk for around 6 hours a day at a steady pace staying at cheaper hostels with some odd days of relaxation in between. Hi Ddee, welcome and happy camino planning to you. I'm starting my second camino shortly - flying into Biarritz from Stansted on the 10th of April and making my way to St Jean pied de port the following day and then onwards and upwards. Might just see you along the way - Buen Camino

If possible, I would suggest a Pamplona beginning, as it's a very special city with Alto de Perdon on the horizon, then you'd have wonderful towns like Puente La Reina, Estella and Los Arcos before Longrono, which hopefully should allow you time to make it to Santiago.

Hi fellow newbie! I've a similar time frame so decided to start Stansted to Biarritz and walking from Pamplona, 23 April, as people seem to rate these few days from here. To reassure me, I booked the first few days accommodation on booking.com. Then I'll play it by ear, once I'm more confident and I've worked out my pace! Generally following Brierley's guide. Might see you enroute. Buen Camino.

Hi, I start my Camino on 18th April. I'm from East coast uk and looked at Manchester airport but ended up booking Stansted to Biarritz.. even with the train fare difference it just seemed to make more sense. I'm not sure how useful it'll be but I'll be a cpl of days ahead of you and have a similar plan (6hrs ish walking, cheap hostels etc) I will be updating my blog daily so it may be useful to keep an eye on where I stayed etc.. plus you are more than welcome to contact me either on here or through the blog if you need any advice. That being said, you'll probably overtake me on day 3 so then I'll be the one asking you !

I am using Ryanair Manchester to Madrid which is a nice early flight which gives you plenty of time to catch a fast train from Madrid to Pamplona. For the return flight there is a very early Ryanair flight from Santiago to Madrid which gets you in early enough to get the return Ryanair flight from Madrid to Manchester. I too would suggest starting in Pamplona rather than Logrono.

Don't be too concerned about places to stay as you can easily do that on the way. Once you figure out your pace you can be more confident about how far you will go each day. Buen camino!

Hi Ddee. As Cayou said, Pamplona is a great place to start. The walk into
Puenta La Reina is not too taxing and passing the Alto del Perdon within
your first few hours of walking does suddenly bring it home to you that
your Camino has started.

As for meeting people, that won't be a problem. I walked from Pamplona
starting in March. Plenty of other pilgrims. Nunca se camina solo
