Oh, so beautiful.

I remember once taking a plane from the Asturias airport to Madrid on a crystal clear shockingly blue sky day in summer. The plane circled up and around the coast, and I was so dumbfounded by the incredible views that I didn’t even pull out my phone. Which I now regret, even though the views are imprinted in my memory. It was surely one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Asturias has it all — nice cities, villages, coastline, mountains, pre-Romanesque.... what’s not to like?! Ah yes, there is sidra — even though I appreciate its importance to the social fabric and the beauty of its traditions. Not wanting to start a fight with sidra fans, because I have spent many happy hours at long log tables surrounded by happy people enjoying it.

This story brought back so many names of towns I walked through, slept in, and created a lifetime of memories. The sheer beauty is at any pilgrim’s fingertips when you walk the Camino del Norte.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The Norte...always on My List, has now jumped a lot closer to the top! Thank you for the link @jayree & for your memories @peregrina2000 & @lt56ny

Anthony Bourdain filmed an episode of the series 'Parts Unknown' in the region shortly before his passing.
The episode wasn't completed & had to be edited together from the commentary & footage the production team had (I found it quite haunting to watch... ); it doesn't include information such as village names, but still captures the stunning scenery & culture of Asturias.
