This bridge was made famous by Suero de Quiñones. From 10 July to 9 August 1434, Suero and ten of his companions encamped in a field beside the bridge and challenged each knight who wished to cross it to a joust in the Passo Honroso as documented at the time by town notary Don Luis Alonso Luengo who kept a detailed first-hand chronicle (later published as Libro del Passo Honroso). I was thinking of a friend of mine when I was there, a university professor whose academic career focuses on the history of medieval jousting.
