Places to eat in Vila Do Conde

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances July 2013, Planning July 2018 Camino Portugues.
We arrive in Porto on the morning of July 13 and will walk to Vila Do Conde. We have hotel reservations in VDC but have been looking at YouTube videos about Portuguese food and our mouths have been watering. Any recommendations of restaurants or menu del dia in VDC or on the Portugues Central in general?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I have not stopped in Vila do Conde (I did the Central route but passed by Vilar and went on), but dishes with Bacalhau (codfish) tend to be great.

If you have never been to Porto, I would highly recommend a day there as well. Try Bacalhau a Gomes de Sá (codfish in the oven with olives and boiled eggs), Francesinha (2-cheese, 7-meats sandwich with beer gravy) and Port wine!

EDIT:
In Ponte de Lima, we ate in one of the restaurants in front of the river. Cant remember the name, but was he one that did NOT look fancy. It was delicious.
In Valença do Minho, there was a restaurant inside the fortress that was fantastic. Not so cheap as menu del dia, but worth it.
In Caldas de Reis there is an old, oooolllddd tavern in front of a spa that makes pimientos de padrón and also crispy fried sardines that were to die for. And portions were HUGE.

Although I can´t remember names of places (sorry), the camino portugues was one of the best gastronomic experiences of my life

Try restaurant Ramon over the road and to the right of Santa Clara Albergue or the bar on the corner over the road from Ramon. Both do good pilgrim meals. The chocolate mousse in Ramon is the best I have ever had in Spain and Portugal but it is not on the pilgrim menu. Only problem with the mousse is that it is served in a little jar and you can't lick the last bit out.

I had a great dinner at Adega da Vila in Vila do Conde a couple of years ago and it still seems to get very good reviews. It’s very popular on the weekends with people from Lisbon so I would make a reservation to be sure to get in . . . Seriously delicious food and local wines and the friendly owner was happy to explain the choices on offer. It was one of the most enjoyable evenings I had on the Portuguese Way and I’d definitely go back if I was ever passing through there again.
