Only 10 other perigrinos in a day? We’ll be walking in August this year with my daughter and we’re hoping for more people interaction. When did you walk?
My daughter will certainly be happy to interact with Spanish locals. It’s hard to gauge how busy the route will be, in terms of bed availability...Hi Becky, I walked in July of 2017 and though at times I saw larger youth groups, for the most part I was walking alone (with no one in sight) or just two or three others on the same point of the trail at the same time. I stayed in all private rooms, so the later I left in the morning the less I would see the high school kids, since they were staying in albergues, getting up at 5am, and gunning it to try to get the limited number of beds in the next albergue. In August you might have more people on the Inglés - especially if you get up and go earlier than I did! - but overall it is a quieter Camino than the Francés. One thing I did enjoy was seeing all the locals out and about on the same trails when I was coming into a town or leaving one.
I walked it mid- August last year and we met very, very few people. Not sure I can recall as many as 10...Only 10 other perigrinos in a day? We’ll be walking in August this year with my daughter and we’re hoping for more people interaction. When did you walk?
We are seeng about 20 per day currently on this CaminoI walked it mid- August last year and we met very, very few people. Not sure I can recall as many as 10...
To me, that was the beauty of it, after the last week on the Camino francés
Later, at Leiro, the new route branches off and misses out the fearsome hill up to Hospital de Bruma and Bar Julia. Most of the walk is unpaved forest road with a long gradual incline. You keep wondering where the fearsome hill is, but it never comes.
Don’t worry, the new route is super well-marked, and it goes from Betanzos to Hospital de Bruma, just like the old route. Only it’s a few kilometers shorter, and there’s less climbing. You can’t go wrong. Just follow the markings. Gronze has been updated to show the new route. I have no idea about Buen Camino.I've just finished the Camino Frances recently and am already thinking about / planning my next Camino, the Inglès at the beginning of October.
So I already started reading about the stages and found out that the route just recently has been officially changed.
I walked the Frances mainly following the fletchas, got all other informations I needed via gronze.com and the buen-camino-app.
So I checked the Inglès on Gronze.com and there is still the stage from Betanzos up to Hospital de Bruma shown with about 450 hightmeters all the way up to get there whereas on this thread I found the following information:
So does this mean I can't really rely on the information about the Inglès on gronze.com or the buen-camino-app?
Would be a pity, because on the Francès both sources were always reliable.
Would be very grateful to get current infos from peregrinos/peregrinos who just recently walked / are walking or will be walking the Inglés before October.
We walked it in June this year it was well marked we also used this year's brierley . If you take any alternative routes on it they are not so well marked.I've just finished the Camino Frances recently and am already thinking about / planning my next Camino, the Inglès at the beginning of October.

We are leaving in 3 weeks for our Camino Ingles. Should we be worried about bed space at the alberques? Reading about the route changes has me a little nervous, what book, site, blog has the most up to date information? Thank you all so much!! Have been waiting for this adventure for years!
Thank you! I too am past upper bunks!Confraternity of St James, Uk (London) has a guide book, mentioned above, updated recently, weighs 102g. You have plenty of time to order one and have it posted to you at home. I just checked the weight, as for me it weighed almost nothing when I got it in the post! It is possible to go with an online guide as well, and a good few of them are mentioned above in the thread.
Additionally, many who have walked recently have also posted their notes and or reflections.
As for being worried about albergue beds: I took advice on this as i had the same question. I have chosen to book ahead, to avoid the worry of arriving late and either not finding a bed, or being offered an upper bunk. I am past upper bunks!
Buen Camino!
How often will john Brierley’s ingles guide come out? Does he put out a new book every year and you buy it in January?
Thank you so much for the information I really do appreciate itThe frequency of publication is not consistent. It seems that 'New Editions' are frequently seen every year now, however. Much of that has less to do with significant changes and new additions over the previous edition, as it does as a marketing tool to drive increased sales.
The current edition of Brierley's guide, as well as others, reflect the most recent changes to the Camino Ingles. You can purchase this year's edition and you will be fine. Plus, you will likely save money.
