Santiago de Compostela airport to Ponferrada

Hello, I'm starting the camino later this week and very excited! I'm arriving in Santiago airport on Thursday morning and planning on starting the camino in Ponferrada. I think i can catch a bus from Santiago airport at 11.10 to Lugo, then switch to Alsa bus at 14.00 to Ponderrada. Do I need to book bus tickets in advance?
Do you know where I can get the pilgrim passport from in Ponferrada?

In Ponferrada you can get your Pilgrim Passport at the albergue parroquial San Nicolas de Flue on calle de la Loma. They are open early in the am UNTIL 08:30 and in the pm from 13:00 until 22:30.

I would only book bus tickets in advance in the event of a holiday.

Hi Caroline.
You can also travel by train.
There are many direct trains between Santiago and Ponferrada, without tranfers.
