Time of past OR future Camino
September 18
Just booked flights to start our first Camino in Sarria on the 4th of September looking advice on how doable it is with 5 days of walking and any advice on where the stop off points should be along the way?? We would ideally like to be walking 20-25km per day. Also will it be warm?? Thanks Cherie

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
115 km in 5 days. Most do it without a problem provided they have paid some heed to all the advice about pack-weight and foot-wear. www.gronze.com is as good a place as any to explore possible stop-offs. The advice is stop when you are ready or when you are somewhere that you think you might like to spend some time. The wealth of accommodation on this stretch, balanced by the high numbers of pilgrims, means you need to go with the camino: all plans will go awry.

As for temperatures? In a months time who knows but the Iberian peninsula is predicted to endure a lethal heat wave over the next few days. It depends where you are from and what you are used to but September in Galicia is generally like high-summer in the UK (including the rain )

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The temperature should still be rather hot...but there is no way of telling now.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Thanks for all the advice I guess it's a case of just going with the flow and seeing where it takes me! Can't wait to get started

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Day 1 Sarria to Portomarin
Day 2 Portomarin to Palas de Rei
Day 3 Palas de Rei to Ribadiso
Day 4 Ribadiso to Pedrouzo
Day 5 Pedrouzo to Santiago

Early September should be very pleasant but always pack rain gear in Galicia.

Buen Camino!

My response, along with all the world, is VERY DOABLE.

But have regard to @Tincatinker re weight etc. Also make sure you have stamina of mind and body to endure any sling and arrows that you may encounter.

And kia kaha (you take care, be strong, get going)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

We did this 5 day route and it worked well:

Day 1 Sarria to Portomarin
Day 2 Portomarin to Palas de Rei
Day 3 Palas de Rei to Viños/(Arzua)
Day 4 Viños/(Arzua) to O Pino
Day 5 O Pino to Santiago
