Has anyone shipped their backpack home to Canada (or US) from Santiago? If so, would be very appreciative if you could please share any advice from your experience - carrier, cost, time, customs etc. I am going to England post-camino and would prefer not to haul my pack around with me. Many thanks.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The post ofrices in Spain sell boxes in all sizes. Lots of people shipping their bag home. I shipped my poles back home. Took forever to arrive, bit they did. If memory serves me right I paid 26€.

Liquids are not usually allowed. The post office can advise you.

On the Correos website you can fill out a form with destination, weight and size of parcel, etc. It will give you the price. It may be a ballpark price since you will not know the exact size of the box, but it will give you an idea.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Last October, because we were going to be traveling for another three weeks, we shipped backpack, boots, poles, and all of our Santiago souvenirs from the correos just down from the cathedral. It was here when we arrived home.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Thank you, very helpful!

Thank you! Did you have any issues with customs? US or Canada? I shipped my boots home after a hiking trip to Scotland and got dinged by canadian customs.

Welch bought the box in the post office (in the front part), packed it and filled out the customs declaration right there. The box was delivered to our house with no problems here in the U.S. It was actually one of the easiest postal experiences.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

Thanks so much - do you recall how much it cost? Sorry for all the questions!
