Short Stages from Lisbon to Porto

Hi fellow pilgrims. I leaving Cape Town on Sunday and am hoping to start my camino on Tuesday the 23rd May. I have chosen to do the Camino Portugues from Lisbon. I have tried to download The Shorter Stages from Lisbon to Porto however the file seems to be corrupted. I would appreciate it if anyone has it and could email it to me please. kelseyvita69@icloud.com. I have not trained at all and have the luxury of walking alone and not having to keep up with anyone. I would like to initially start with shorter stages until I find my rythmn. Thank you so much. Buen Camino.

My husband and I are both from Cape Town and we walked from Santarem to Santiago last June/July 2016. We wrote a blog ourwayportuguesecaminho.wordpress.com which you may find quite interesting. Hopefully you are taking along Brierley's book which was very useful. We did not find many short before Porto and it seems that very few people walk the section before Porto. We loved the quietness and the beauty of the field flowers, but were on our own most of the time. Finding availability should not be a problem but there are sections where there is nowhere to stay because there simply is no village or town. Remember, taking a train or taxi can be beneficial as I really messed up my feet walking 64 kilometres in the first two days. In our blog you can see how my feet looked, so just be sensible. Good luck. You are embarking on a wonderful experience, very tough at times and you will have to big deep, just be sensible, no one is judging you!!!

kelseyvita69 - I am sorry for my late reply. I actually started my Camino Portugues the same time as you (although I started in Santarem rather than Lisbon), and also didn't like the long days on the 'standard' itinerary. So, instead of doing Santarem-Golega-Tomar, I broke it up into Santarem-Azinhaga-Vila Nova Barquinha-Tomar. I passed through Golega on the way to V N Barquinha and didn't think I missed anything by not spending the night there. It is true that not many people walk the section between Lisbon and Porto. I met 4 pilgrims on the first day, and then no one at all for the following 3 days over a distance of about 80 km. I know this information is too late for you, but may be useful to others who are contemplating doing this in the future.

I am sorry that I didn't see this when it was posted originally. But I have just checked the link and found that the document still seems fine. There have been some additions since that document was written though, so it's a little out of date. For instance it doesn't include the newly opened albergue in Alpriate.
