Sleeping bag versus Liner

Hi all, following the excellent advice I have received to date I have now booked my Camino between Sarria and Santiago for the last few days of May/first few days in June! I have now turned my attention to getting my gear. I know there has been much debate in terms of sleeping bags versus liners for use in the Albergues. Based on my travel dates what would people recommend? I am the type that prefers being cool when trying to sleep which is why I am leaning towards a liner! I could always bring some kind of pjs if it is cooler! I reckon with all those people in the Albergue it probably will be warm!I am operating on a budget and will be buying what I need on Amazon.co.uk so would really appreciate any recommendations!

You just never know.
I've frozen in June and been hot in September.
As I've said before, I never walk the Camino without a lightweight down blanket.
But for just walking Sarria to Santiago, you'll probably be fine with a liner if you sleep warm.
You can always put on all your clothes or pick up a blanket in one of the villages.

Imagine sleeping in an Albergue with dozens of people crammed in a tiny dorm with the window shut in mid summer. A liner is enough.

We took a Kelty 40 degree sleeping bag for our first camino in Sept/Oct. It was way too much, and I am one of the people who like to be warm when sleeping. For our May/June trips, we switched to the Sea to Summit Thermolite Reactor Extreme Mummy Bag Liner that has 15 degree rating and we were fine, even at higher altitudes. All those bodies will warm up a room in no time and you will most likely be wishing for an open window.

I've walked in September twice and June once. A liner was all I needed. I brought a sleeping bag and liner on my first and ended up shipping the sleeping bag early on. PJ's? I haven't seen many that bring them, I slept in what I was walking in the next day. Really made getting ready (quietly) in the morning so much easier! If you get cold at night you could always put on your fleece if your bringing one. Buen Camino!!

Try sleeping in a cold room ... say about 10C ... using the gear you plan to take.

A sleeping bag liner is all you need.
You don't really need to bring PJ's for walking the Camino.

I am using liner and sleeping bag plus 2 blankets tonight and its still cold

I'm sure it is. It's March.....
The OP is walking May-June.

On June 28 2014 I deliberately aimed for Hontanas to spend the night, as I wanted to spend that afternoon in their fabulous municipal swimming pool. It was so cold that day that I was the only person at the pool (sitting on the bench reading a book) other than the pool attendant who was sleeping on the grass in his sleeping bag. Don’t underestimate the weather in Spain.

I was just a few days up the road from you in Villarente that day. Can't say I remember the weather that day, though. I do remember it only raining on me 1-1/2 days on that CF, all the way to SDC from SJPdP (6/7-7/12). Overall I loved the weather on that trip. Shorts everyday. I didn't bring a sleeping bag, or even a fleece pullover. Just wore two long sleeve tech shirts when it got chilly in the evening.

Thanks everyone, I value your insights. The general view is that a sleep liner will be ok so I will trust that. Worst case scenario, I pick up something along the way in a shop!
