Hello Fellow Pilgrims,
I am Kathrina from the SF area in USA, and will be flying into Paris next week, then to Biarritz on May 4 morning. I'd like to start at Roncesvalle to avoid the long steep climb off SJJP. I will walking the month of May and look forward to meeting some of you on the Camino. Any ideas on how to get there the easiest way?
Thanks so much, Kathrina

Welcome Kathrina. I am starting from Roncesvalles on 1 May. Buen Camino.

Welcome Kathrina! It's a pleasure to read that someone has some sense and starting " modestly" in Roncesvalles instead of doing the " crossing of the Pyrenees" . IMHO you are very, very wise! buen Camino!

Hi Anna and Buz,
It's been a long, hard pilgrimage spanning over twenty years to finally set foot on the camino in Spain for me and I feel such grace that I can do it. I've climbed many mountains before, and now it's another crossing and pass that invite and I humbly accept. Buen Camino.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
There are several ALSA and PESA buses from Biarritz Airport to San Sebastian/Donostia (outdoor bus station at Plaza Pio XII).

ALSA operates buses almost hourly from San Sebastian to Pamplona.

Else take SNCF train from Gare Biarritz or Transports64 Euskadi 816 bus from BIQ to Irun.

Renfe operates trains from Irun to Pamplona.

There are frequent Renfe Cercanias and Euskotren trains from Irun to San Sebastian.

At Pamplona bus station take the Autocares Artieda bus (urban service) to Roncesvalles or the CONDA bus from Pamplona to SJPdP which makes a stop at Roncesvalles.

There is a new service on the ALSA site: one bus per day that goes from Biarritz airport to Pamplona via SJPdP and Roncesvalles.
