Starting from St Jean Pied de Port September 15th

Hi,

I'm starting from St Jean Pied de Port on September 15th, and feeling a bit nervous...

I'd like to stay at Orisson that first night, as I will have started after getting the train to St Jean that morning.

Does anyone know if it possible or best to try and reserve a bed in advance at Orisson? From what I've read it sounds like you have to stay flexible on that part of the route because of the weather.

Thanks to everyone for their useful advice on this forum!

Alison.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Buen Camino Alison!! I'm so excited for you! Still a year to wait...unless I just up and quit! Always an option.

Use the search mechanism...then you can find the details about the Auberge in Orisson...I've been doing some reading about that one too, and it does seem to require reservations...and there is a number...so if you use the advanced search in the upper right corner, you should come right to good intel! Also check for posts by begonia diaz...she posted some fabulous stuff in her blog including great pics! Wishing you all the very best, Karn

Hi Alison,
Buen camino. I left SJPP on SEPT 15TH last year. I also stayed at Orisson for the night. It is best to book it. The email address was ------------- refuge.orisson@wanadoo.fr

I hope that is still correct. The owners were very helpful.
The weather on the day was wonderful but 2 days later was very wet. Listen to the people at the Pilgrims Office for advice before you set off.

I am hoping to walk the Via de la Plata in 2011. I live in Western Australia , so need to plan well in advance.
Good luck with all your walking. You will meet so many wonderful peregrinos.

God bless.
Sandra.

Hi Alison

Just a couple more days until it becomes real.
Have a wonderful journey.

Buen Camino,

You're journey has almost begun! I started in St Jean last year around this time; it's a beautiful time of year to walk. It sounds like you're preparing well, so don't be too nervous!
