The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
I am really struggling to find somewhere to stay. I now know I should have looked earlier.

In Sarria or along the route?

Have you looked at Gronze? Many places aren't available on booking sites. Gronze has contact information for them.
Gronze is only in Spanish, but if you use the Chrome browser it will automatically translate to English.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Sarria is ok. I can find nothing around Portomarin. Thank you for the Gronze tip. Nothing showing there either.

There are 86 beds in the municipal albergue in Portomarin. No reservations accepted. Hopefully you will arrive early enough for a bed there if you don't find anything else.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Padraic, just don't worry. It is not the desert. We didn't find a bed in Portomarin in 2006 (it was a Sunday) so we just had lunch and set off again, finishing 13km further on. I know it can be a different story now, but once you set off and meet other people and find out what is actually going on, you will be just fine. I bet you! Buen Camino.

Please be on the lookout for two gypsy girls on the trail that are allegedly deaf and mute. They can hear and speak very well.
