The Camino Travel Center and the Portuguese Camino

We are planning to walk the Portuguese camino in late September, probably from Ponte de Lima to Santiago. As we are no longer young we plan to have our baggage transported from point to point, much as we did in Spain and France. I have been communicating with The Camino Travel Center and they have offered to assist us with this as well as finding accommodations along the way (help we weren't seeking but which might prove useful). Has anyone dealt with this company and if so, what was your experience concerning their reliability, capabilities, etc?

Hi HAWSR and welcome to the forum.

The Portugueses is a lovely route, I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely. If you haven't discovered it already, there is a downloadable guide available from the CSJ.

I believe the Camino Travel Centre was started originally by Ivar (Godfather of the forum) but It was closed down after a while and then subsequently started up again by another couple, although I don't much more of the background. I'm sure that another forum member will have more information and hopefully you'll get some good testimonials.

We walked frm Oporto in 2010. We flew to Paris, then Madrid for a few days, the Santiago. We used the Camino Travel Center to make reservations for us in SDC, get us bus tix to Oporto and other reservations for when we got back to SDC. Ivar had the business then and one of his staff was a delightful woman named Wiktoria. She was super helpful and competent. I had heard that she was one of the folks running the CTC after Ivar moved on. And, it's a lovely walk.

Victoria still is with them. They are as always very helpful. They have just arranged a pilgrimage in conjunction with Peterborough Pilgrims for young people this July. A great service
