Spain! 1969. Seventeen years old. A new world dawning. We were as plentiful as the flowers in the fields. Where are you?

Back to school in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario. Three plus decades as a ...tax auditor. Three children, the usual spousal difficulties, retirement in Eight months.

Then the Camino: an attempt to recapture those years of bliss.

See you there.

I can't be the only one.

You're not the only one. Two years behind you. I slowly evolved from hippie to Bohemian, but didn't do the family thing. Artist first, then journalist, traveler. Planning on walking Camino for 11 years. Hope to finally make it happen this autumn. Making my list and checking it twice. I've got a lot of kick left. 8)

I was supressed in my youth, but my inner hippie has emerged since retiring June 1, last year.
It is great.

Camino Frances - 2004
Via de la Plata - 2006
Via de la Plata, Camino Sanabres - 2010

Now I'm hooked on solo cycle touring.
No end of things to see and do.

Eight months will go by fast enough.

Hey everyone,

Im sorry, i don't understand the lingo your using...'kicking the can'?! Im at the unfortunate age (born 1978) that im stuck between generations, too young to kick the can, too old to wear a hoody and look menacing! :(

However, particularly Maya, id hate to be walking my camino this october/november and miss meeting some fellow forum-ites, so do let me know when your walking and maybe we'll 'kick a can'?....What is that anyway?! :)

Buen Camino

wow, we were just commenting the other day how the camino is populated with hippies lately, hippies of two or three generations: the DeadHeads, the Dreads-wearers, the chicks with nose-rings and tattoos and very little sense of personal decorum, pot-smokers, peaceniks, Commies, queers, Jesus Freaks, guitar-strumming James Taylor wannabees. It´s like a mobile Woodstock out there, man!
Tune in, turn on, and drop out!

Reb. (born too late. Or too soon. But still groovy.)

I'm sitting here stunned and not sure whether to laugh or cry...from laughing! I've just spent the better part of an hour working away on my personal blog...about precisly that topic...where was I when...and what the heck is going on now...yada yada yada .. Actually delighted to know that...we are still there...just bidding our time..waiting..OH hell, I'm not even going to wait for retirement...I'm just going to up and quit one of these days. And actually for me..it was 1974, Germany and yes I was 17 and Free! ....and the postcards home arrived after I'd come home and already left again! Ahh...memories... Buen Camino one and all!
