Transport from Bilbao Airport to Pamplona / Logroño

Time of past OR future Camino

Hi I’m walking Camino Frances from Logroño on 13052019 my big problem is getting transport from Bilbao Airport to the area around Pamplona. Unfortunately our flight arrives at Bilbao at about 4 pm and the only bus appears to be around 6.30pm arriving at Pamplona approx 9.30pm and obviously I would like to arrive earlier. Has anybody got any ideas, there doesn’t appear to be any other buses and a taxi is too expensive.
Thanks
Jed

That doesn't sound too bad to me. You might want to check BlaBlaCar. I haven't used them, but lots of people report good things.

Unless your time table is really tight I would suggest spending a night in Bilbao. It is a great city with much to be enjoyed. An early morning departure from Bilbao will see you good for an easy days camino. (start slowly, Santiago isn't going anywhere).

I would devote a spare night in Bilbao to the Plaza Nueva / Plaza Barria. You won't have time to enjoy the city as a whole but you will have a great evening and be close to the bus station for the morning.

Why are you not going directly to Logrono ? Bus outside terminal takes you directly toTermibus details on bus timetables to logrono are available on past posts. I think its a company called Cuadro? I have used it several times. Good luck.

I agree. Go directly to Logroño. There's a train that goes twice a day, but you would have to spend the night in Bilbao and get the early morning train. You could start walking as soon as you arrive in Logroño.

Hi JED , last summer monday 20th of august ,i arrived in Bilbao from Paris and took the bus company La Union departure Garellano in town ( quick ride in taxi from the airport ! )Arrived in Pamplona around 22pm station calle Yangas y Miranda , too late for the albergue but i had booked at Hotel Avendida +34 948222644 , avda de Zaragoza ,walking distance from the bus arrival and 62 euros a night
Next day i visited Pamplona and stayed at Albergue Jesus y Mary, perfect location ,in the renovated former Hospital for pilgrims in front of the cathedral ; Before dawn i started my first Camino ever, with a group of barazilians and dannish i met the evening before ! it was nice not to be alone for the first morning ! i walked until Burgos. NEXT 17 april i will (hopefully)finish my second leg of the Camino, same flight to Bilbao and bus Alsa to Burgos and beginning to walk on 18th at dawn! BUEN Camino

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Jed: There’s a bus from Bilbao at 18:00, arriving in Pamplona at 20:00. Next one is 20:30, arriving at 22:30. Company is Autobuses La Union. http://www.movelia.es/transicion_launion/ventaen.htm#

Schedules for May aren’t posted yet, but they won’t change. There’s frequent local bus transportation from the Bilbao airport to the bus station downtown, but if you want to catch the 18:00 bus and it’s running tight, take a cab.

I'm not sure why the OP is asking for transportation to Pamplona when he's planning to start walking from Logroño.
