Travel from Normandy / Bayeux to St. Jean Pied de Port

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances July/August 2017
I will be walking the Camino Frances this summer after spending some time studying abroad. Before I begin my Camino, however, I was planning on going to the Normandy region of France (currently planning on staying in Bayeux). So, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the best way to travel from Normandy/Bayeux down to St Jean PdP. I realize that this will most likely lead me through Paris, so would you recommend looking into travel to St Jean from Paris? Also, would you recommend flying or taking the train to St Jean? Any advice/insight/resources to look at would be much appreciated. Thank you!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
SJPdP is connected to Bayonne via SNCF train.

SJPdP is connected to Pamplona in summer months by ALSA bus.

If you are planning to get to SJPdP from anywhere else ... you will likely want to travel to Bayonne or Pamplona.

Bayonne is connected to the rest of France by SNCF railway.

The closest airport to Bayonne is BIQ Biarritz. It is well connected with flights throughout Europe.

Recommendations would require cost/benefit comparisons that involve personal criteria.
