April 2023
Hi I am new to the forum.
Just want to know the best way to travel from Madrid to get to Roncesvalles. I noticed that there are trains from Madrid to Pamplona. But is there a bus to Roncesvalles that leaves Pamplona? Are there buses available starting in April? What time does it usually leave? How often does leave from Pamplona? How much does cost?

Welcome to the forum, @CanadaMike, and congratulations ☺️. This must be the first question about transport from Pamplona to Roncesvalles for the 2023 season.

In 2022, there were: an ALSA bus, an Artieda bus and taxis. The situation is likely to be similar in 2023.

The ALSA bus went from Pamplona to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port with a stop for drop-off in Roncesvalles. Once daily. Left Pamplona at 12:00. Price range: around €25. The service ran from about April to about October. Past experience tells us that their timetable for 2023 and the possibility for booking a ticket will not be online for many months from now.

The Artieda bus serves the local community. Their timetable since 5 September 2022: departure in Pamplona at 13:50 from Monday to Friday and at 16:00 on Saturday. No service on Sundays and on the public holidays of the region (Navarra). Price range: less than €10. Likely to be similar in 2023.

Teletaxi San Fermin will fare-share up to eight passengers. Depending on how many people share, the price range was somewhere between €15 to €120 in 2022.

Happy planning and Buen Camino!

A great app that gets you ALL transportation options for your trip in Europe is Omio. Europeans live by it. One of the options they show are Bla-Bla cars. These are private cars running the same route and time. Think Airbnb with hosts and guests and reviews that you can check. I’ve had great luck and have met some people that are now friends.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
