A total of 8436 pilgrims started on the road to Santiago Tui last year
EG Tui remains the first place of origin of the pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela, following the French way. A total of 8436 pilgrims began the pilgrimage route in Tui in the past year and 25,628 Portuguese made their way in the same period.
After Sarria, St. Jean Pied de Port, Leon, Cebreiro and Roncesvalles, is the city of Tui bring next in the Camino de Santiago pilgrims. The number in 2012 is 10 percent higher than the 7720 that began the pilgrimage in 2011.
Historical tradition, the strategic location of the city and its important natural heritage resources and justify the choice of this small city start their pilgrimage to Compostela.
The Pilgrim Office of Santiago Cathedral has 25,628 registered pilgrims who entered through Tui Galicia, historical Jacobean door in the itinerary.
