Camino Francis (April 2015)
8 April -- Villafranco to Burgo -- 40 km - Weather Perfect

Yep - just did 40 kms -- Not sure how that happened, but was in the groove.

Stopping at Villafranco was a good call -- the Uphill Mountain route was -- well -- really uphill -- the early fog was pretty cool -- it was a wonderful morning to hump up a Mountain -- in fact today was a super day of walking.

Pushed all the way to San Juan de Ortega before taking a break -- Ran into a bunch of the Camino family -- always very cool.

Today was the first time I had listened to music on my Ipod while walking -- what a great way to travel -- that was until I was slapped in the ears with "Cruella De Ville" and "Macho Man" back to back -- almost killed me - really do have to screen some of my son's Music off my Ipod. (macho, macho man .. my brain is still stunned)

The terrain today went from wooded trails (very nice to walk on), to rocky roads (not as fun to walk on) to the urban sprawl of Burgos (yep -- suck factor high). Ended up taking a total of three breaks to pull of the boots, get a bite to eat and then continue on -- 10 + hours is a really long day to be on your feet.

So about 15 kms out from Burgos -- run into a group of Pilgrims -- and who is in that group? -- Ms. Full Moon from yesterday -- kept a straight face and politely said "Buen Camino" -- did think about hanging around to see if the Moon would rise again -- but had places to go.

After what seemed forever -- made it to the old part of Burgos -- this is the neat part of the City -- the rest I could do without -- so priority number one -- find a place to crash -- so Hostel here I come -- my own room and bath 30 euros -- 2nd priority Food, so went and had Dominoes Pizza (I can hear the complaints already -- but from my point of view, it was quick and it was good).

Ok All -- need to get ready for the next day's walk -- going 30 kms + through the Meseta.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Too often, people try navigating by the Full Moon - usually results in some epic stumbles until they resume navigating by the yellow arrows...
