When I went to the Madrid KLM/Air France counter for my boarding pass two days ago, the clerk told me I had to provide proof of vaccination to fly back to the US (I am a US citizen). I commented that I didn't think this was a requirement and he told me I was wrong, several times, even after I showed him my vaccinations on my health issue app (which he snorted at derisively. He was a pleasure.)
I'm home and have looked at the US requirements as well as the transit exception for the Netherlands and neither appear to require proof of vaccination. Am I reading these requirements correctly? As I said, I'm vaccinated, but I know people who have left the US to travel without vaccination and I'd want to let them know they won't be able to fly back if that's really the case. Thanks.
