Hi, Can anyone give some advice on stages from Salamanca, how are the hostals? is the way well marked liked the portuguese and french ways?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

There are many many resources, in fact it may be overwhelming. I would start with the godesalco "planificador" or route planner and look at mundicamino and eroski websites for more detailed information. There are many of us who have walked the Vdlp and who have posted our stages, so you should scroll through that section of the forum.

In general I'd say the marking is great, the albergues are very good, and it's a wonderful walk. As Heikki suggests, you should be aware of the construction, which seems to be a moving target, north of Zamora. Opinions vary on how much this construction and the re-routing it produces will interfere with a joyful camino.

When are you thinking of going? Spring, IMHO, is glorious! Buen camino, Laurie

It's a lovely walk, whether you go in spring or fall. You shouldn't have any problem finding your way other than possibly around the construction zones. I recommend going through Ourense, too.

Spring yes - but probably after Easter and even after the May Day holiday. If you were intending to start in Sevilla then you can start earlier but if Salamanca is the go then first week in May will be ok. The wild flowers should be out; it should not snow in Galicia and also should not be too hot. Just keep your fleece and rain coat handy. If you do not speak much Spanish use the next 5 months to practice - not a lot of English spoken in the smaller villages. Buen Camino
